Which is the Best Stop Snoring Device?

Are you plagued by snoring? Is this a problem for you and your partner? There are ways for you to end this annoyance and start sleeping more peacefully. There are many devices on the market and they all say that they have the best product to make you stop snoring. We long for a cure; which advertisements do we believe? How do you know if you are making the right choice? It’s hard to believe everything that we see on TV but we want to. Talk to your doctor and ask which stop snoring device would he recommend, if any.

Most people are oblivious to the exact cause of snoring, even though it is a    widespread problem. There are many reasons why a person may snore; it could be caused by an obstructed airway in the nasal cavity or it could be caused by a blocked sinus passage. It could also be a weakened muscle in the throat or tongue or from the palate and uvula in your mouth being too long or soft. You also may be obese, and this has been known to cause snoring. You need to search for the proper stop snoring device designed for your individual snoring problem. There are many different causes for snoring, and you will need to be diagnosed first in order to assure that you have chosen the correct one.

A few years back, the world was introduced to nasal strips. Although there are so many anti-snoring devices on the market today they are mostly used to tackle obstructed nasal airways or plugged sinus passageways. The nasal strips are OTC (over the counter) and can be purchased in any drug store. These, when used correctly, will allow for the opening of the nasal passage by lifting and widening the space in the nasal valve. Another good, but temporary solution is to use nasal sprays or drops to take away the swelling. This in turn would reduce nasal secretions, soften mucous membranes and tighten the muscles in the throat, thereby making breathing a bit better and reduce snoring. Caution is needed though, because too much of these sprays can cause swelling, so you would basically be defeating the purpose. Even though these strips are OTC you should talk to your doctor before using any stop snoring device.

A person who sleeps with their mouth open at night is more likely to have poor muscle tone in the throat or the tongue; because of this, they will be a victim of snoring. Manufacturers have made a device called a chin strap that wraps around the chin and head, allowing for your jaw and mouth to remain clamped shut while you sleep. This is designed specifically for this type of mouth breathing and the resultant snoring. They are made of a stretchy neoprene material and will help to make the snorer breathe through the nasal passage naturally.

They also have a stop snoring device through your dentist that may benefit you as well. If the problems lay within the mouth due to a soft palate or uvula then reshaping your mouth to keep you from snoring may be the key. Using a mouthpiece or a mandibular advancement splint will prevent the soft throat tissues from collapsing and blocking the airway when you sleep. This piece will make your lower jaw come forward and lift your soft palate. Talk to your doctor or an ENT (ear nose and throat) specialist to have them explain what exactly is causing you to snore. They will then be able to treat you properly, depending on what the cause is.
