Stop Snoring Exercises

People snore for a reason. It’s not that we like to hear ourselves snore and we all know that our significant others can also do without this annoyance. There is usually an underlying problem for our annoying snoring. It could be brought on by the structure of our mouths. More likely than not, when people sleep they breathe through their noses, but occasionally you get “mouth breathers” and they are the worst when it comes to loud and sometimes obnoxious sounds. Snoring can be very hard on you and those around you; we don’t do it on purpose, however, it just happens. If you are one of the millions who is a snorer sufferer, then you may want to try a stop snoring exercise that will give you and others a good nights sleep. Devices to help you stop can get very costly and hey, do we really know if they are going to work? In today’s money restricted world, we can’t play guessing games. It is possible for you to correct the underlying problem yourself by exercising to fix the mouth structure.

There are many reasons why one snores. Just like the rest of the body, our mouth is made like a puzzle that fits nicely together. Sometimes, however, something can make the pieces not fit and this causes the air that we take in while sleeping to vibrate and this causes us to snore. This happens if the tongue is not tightly attached to the mandible bone. Another reason could be that the soft muscle tissue at the roof of your mouth is too soft; having a soft palate will also make the air vibrate. A more common cause of snoring is narrow airways; this could be just from your tonsils being swollen or from the adenoids at the base of your throat. Whatever the cause of your snoring, you should seek the advice of your doctor to find a stop snoring exercise that will work for you.

There are many exercises that you can do to re-strengthen your mouth in areas that need structural change. This in turn will help you to lessen your snoring problems. One of the best exercises to do is the one that singers use; sing at the top of your lungs la la la la and hold the notes for at least 3 seconds. If you do this 5 times daily you will notice a change in your snoring pattern. Strengthening your throat and soft palate will slow the vibrations when the air flows in and out of your mouth while you sleep. Such repetition of other exercises is wonderful to strengthen your tongue and jaw to reduce snoring. If you take your tongue and stick it out as far as you can and try to touch your nose and chin with it you will gain strength from this exercise. The same goes for the jaw: if you hold it shut and try to open it forcibly and hold to the count of ten, you will see that after a while, it too will become stronger. These methods should be done 10 times a day for the best results. In very recent studies it has been noted that playing a woodwind instrument has also resulted in a reduction in snoring.

As with just about any ailment, your daily activities should include some sort of exercise regimen. Snoring can be reduced greatly for those who are on the obese side. If a person is overweight, this may obstruct the airway. This is caused by the fatty tissue in the neck putting pressure on the diaphragm. By losing weight you are not only reducing your snoring but your overall health as well. So eat right, exercise regularly and sleep tight!
